Painting with the Masters

The Cody Country Art League is pleased to be working with the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale committee to offer workshops with their artists.  This presents a great opportunity for artists in Cody Country to take workshops with well known artist-instructors without having to travel long distances.  This series is open to all area artists, whether they are CCAL members or not. 

JOHN POTTER - October 19-20

John is not only a well known and very popular artist, but he is also an excellent instructor.  His oil painting workshops are always well attended. 


In addition to appearing in the Buffalo Bill Art Show & Sale, John is a member of the Salmagundi Club, the Society of Animal Artists (SAA), the Putney Painters, and a Signature Member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters. 

JOHN POTTER - 1st in the Masters Series

Artist John Potter was raised in the Upper Great Lakes country - on and off the Lac du Flambeau Ojibwe Indian Reservation in Northern Wisconsin - where he grew up with an abiding love of the Natural World in the forests of the Great Northwoods.  John currently lives in Red Lodge, MT.


He says, "When I step outside to paint, my intent is to observe and to borrow from Nature, in order to orchestrate a moment of light, color, and my own emotional and intellectual responses to these on canvas.  My hope is the viewer may see the world through my eyes for a moment, and gain an appreciation for the quiet dignity to be found in the Wild, and hopefully, share a desire to help preserve this good Earth that belongs to us all, and to our children's children".

Friday, October 19th, 6pm - 8pm: Orientation & Setup

Meet John and your fellow students, get filled in on the course goals & structure prepare for a full day of instruction and painting on Saturday.     

Saturday, October 20th, 8am - 4pm Class Time

This will be an all-day class.  It is recommended that participants bring a lunch.
